Event FAQ
Where should I stay?
We recommend staying at the venue itself - the Portland Courtyard City Center.
You can book a room with our discounted group rate using this link; as of mid June the rate for the event was ~$127/night inclusive of taxes (subject to change).
To take advantage of our group rate, you must book your room by Sept 11, 2025.
We recommend you book a room as soon as you register. The cancellation policy for our rate allows you to cancel up 2 days before the first day of your stay. If the reservation system tells you that rooms are not available, please email us or DM Taco on the Discord- we can likely expand the size of our room block.
If you have specific questions about lodging, email [email protected].
Is the schedule of events available?
Yes! You can access the current schedule here. The schedule may change dynamically within a day as conditions warrant! Space is available for printer building, tech support, and testing; educational sessions or hack-a-thons; and general hang-outs and board games (BYOG!).
Can I make suggestions for what goes on the schedule of events?
Yes--please email [email protected] or reach out to Taco on the Voron Discord with any suggestions or requests. Please be specific in your email to help us determine feasibility, space, time, and tech needs for your request. For example:
- "I would like 45 minutes to give a talk on writing plug-ins for Klipper"
- "I want to organize a group that will be playing a table top board game that needs 6x6 feet and 5 chairs"
- "I wish we could have a constantly staffed tech table where experts can help answer my printer questions"
Can I bring my printer?
Yes! We ask you during the ticket sale process to let us know if you will be bringing a printer or anything else we need to know about. Please make sure to complete that section or we will not be able to guarantee space or power for your items. We will do our best to accommodate your request and will let you know if there are any restrictions or limitations to what you are proposing to bring.
How do I let you know about changes to my space or power needs after I've bought my ticket?
Just email us at [email protected] and let us know about any changes to what you plan to bring. We will do our best to accommodate your request and will let you know if there are any restrictions or limitations to what you are proposing to bring.
I'm a vendor. Can I come to this event?
Vendors are welcome to participate in the event as community members. Vendors are not able to table or promote or sell their product(s) at this event. Think "projects not products"
I'm a streamer. Can I come to this event?
Absolutely! We ask that you refrain from recording for content but you are welcome to participate in the event as a community member.
I don't have a VORON printer. Can I still come?
Absolutely! The event is for/by Voron owners, and the content will be very Voron focused, but owning a VORON or any other 3-D printer is not a requirement to participate in this event. Folks at all levels of printer interest or ownership are welcome to attend.
Can my family or friends come?
Only ticket holders will be able to access the event spaces. It is okay if your family wants to quickly stop in to say hi, drop things off, etc., but anyone planning to attend the event for 15 minutes or more must buy a ticket in advance. Only ticketed members will be eligible for giveaways.
Can I buy tickets at the door?
No, all attendees will need to buy tickets in advance. Registration will close when we reach max capacity for the venue.
Will food be provided?
Probably not. If we have sufficient ticket sales, we will try to include some light catering like afternoon snacks. We hope to be able to offer coffee, tea, and water at the event, but attendees should plan to include the cost of food in their travel budget. We encourage attendees to form informal social groups for dining and entertainment.
Can I bring my own food to the event?
No, per the venue, outside food is not allowed in the event spaces. There is a restaurant on site, and a plethora of local food choices within very easy walking distance.
Can children attend the event?
Children (people under 18) are welcome to attend with a parent or guardian present.
If I am flying in, do I need to rent a car?
That's up to you, and may be impacted by where you choose to stay or what else you want to do in the area. The venue is easily accessible from the Portland Airport (PDX) via light rail, and the only parking at the hotel itself is valet parking with a charge per day of $48. You should not need a vehicle to reach local food options. Portland has a decent (for the US) metro system to get around, and typical assortment of taxis and rideshare services.
Will there be shirts/hoodies/merch?
Yes! We have made event apparel available via our print-on-demand "partner". https://voronware.com/
We do not plan to have extras available for purchase at the event.
Is this a for profit event?
No! This event is being organized by the VORON Design admin team with support from a few local volunteers. All proceeds from ticket sales will be used to pay for the venue and associated event expenses. If additional funds are remaining at the end of the event, they will be donated to a local non-profit.
I cannot attend but would like to financially support the event, how can I do that?
Please do not buy a ticket in this scenario!
If you wish to send funds to support the event: please visit our website https://vorondesign.com/ and click the "Donate" button in the top right. In the payment message field, put in a comment that you are supporting VICE2025. Thank you!
